In 4 out of 100 cases, the emergency is a child – perhaps even an infant. And then the tension rises, because suddenly everything is different! Hardly any rescuer has experience with young patients. Their resuscitation is far less successful than in adults1. Incorrect doses of adrenaline make survival impossible2. If you want to be on the safe side when it comes to dosing life-saving medications, use the pediatric emergency ruler.
The PaedER is the only tool in the world that has already been proven in two studies3, 4 to help prevent life-threatening errors in paediatric emergencies. It has been shown to prevent nine out of ten life-threatening paediatric dosing errors in seconds3. Therefore, it is recommended in the S2k guideline, “Medication safety in pediatric emergencies”5.
